LQJO travel to Taiwan Day 2 - Carrefour -> Taipei Main Station -> QSquare -> Shilin Night Market
9.10.15
The bed is too comfy that we couldn't pull ourselves out of the bed. We nua for about 30 minutes before we washed up and head to 7th floor for breakfast. The breakfast also very nice to eat. I'm not a bee hoon lover, but this bee hoon is very thin and has this meaty taste which makes it taste good. And after our food, we have to return our plates and cups. We had to separate out between waste, plates and recycled item. And the Lu Rou Fan is fantastic.
We went to Carrefour to recce on the things we could purchase as goodies back sg. We were lost on our way and i took a bold but stupid move to ask for direction. But i aim the wrong people, and ended up asking japanese travellers. But luckily, both of them were also heading to Carrefour, so they were nice enough to direct us there. The FREAKING BIG BUN cos TWD 42.
But there were nothing special at Carrefour and we went to the Taipei underground mall. Guess what? we went there too early. Most of the stalls are still not open. There were lot of shoes and books stalls. Most of the shoe shop sells the same design shoes at the range of sgd $8 to $20 plus dollar. The mall is a very long stretch from Zhong Shan Station to Taipei main station. But Zhong Shan station mostly sell books, which doesn't attract me much.
We ended our shopping real fast and we are way ahead of our itinerary, but there isn't many stall. Most stalls sells repetitive stuff. I bought 2 shoes and a selfie stick. We went to take a look at the newly opened shopping mall -Qsquare.
We saw many people bought Lok Lok form a store that looks similar like 7 eleven. And their lok lok is tasty, i love the balls. hahaha
The long queue at 108 Matcha Saro. The texture of the paste is rough but the taste of the paste is sweet and they really put a lot of paste in it.So it's still not that bad.Can try this but it's NOT a Must Try.
There's long queue at every restaurants at QSquare , so we gave up having our lunch there. We hardly went in to any shops as the price is quite expensive. We went back to XMD and tried the Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang and I LOVE TO EAT THIS!!!THIS IS MOUTH WATERING GOOD.MUST TRY!
I LOVE THIS TOO -MISTER DONUT.It looks soso, like any other donut. But the dough is very chewy and sweet and it's sugar coated. I love the original one. Sugarlicious!
We rest at our room for awhile and head to Jiantan station for Shilin market.Once you are out of the station, cross the traffic light and walk straight. There will be food stalls lining up even before the Shilin underground entrance. We queued for the fried milk. It doesn't taste like milk powder which i thought it was. The milk is sweet like those rabbit "paper" wrapped sweet; plus the crispy crust on the outside. Daebak!
As many reviewed that the bbq beef cube is good and the ones at XMD is disappointing. We decided to give it another chance. And then ULTRA disappointing. Never gonna eat this again. The beef cubes taste terrible!
One of the game stall in Shilin and it's apron approx sgd $5 per game.
We went down to the underground food street.
We eat Oyster Omelette. It taste differently from SG. This has some sort of sweet sauce and doesn't have too many flour and less greasy.
Next is this Da Bing Bao Xiao Bing, we chose the ones with peanut.
This is also good, it's extremely crispy and the peanut has these sweet fragrance.Nice!
We went for Guan Cai Ban and i super love this too. The buttery taste of the bread is just nice and is crispy. The portion of the sauce also just nice , so it won't taste so "ni". Most of the food at Shilin night market is really really good, i really enjoy it!
We then tried the following which wasn't that fantastic, but edible.
After filling our stomach, we walked Shilin Market. The market sells interesting stuffs, food and also clothes.A lot more nice clothes that are currently trending in sg too.But price a little too expensive.
Mountain people Mountain Sea
Please do not buy this bacon wrapped asparagus, not worth the price and it's extremely not tasty.
The barbecue corn that bf love to eat but me as a corn lover doesn't really like it because it's not juicy,it doesn't taste fresh and it's hard to bite.
Queued for the famous pepper bun, the bun is piping hot and peppery which explains the food name. But the large portion of the meat filling, it's not bad but not my kind of food.BUt it's a MUST TRY!
The lemon tea bought from this stall tasted awful, please do not buy...
Found this interesting umbrella full of pins. There are quite a lot of so called illegal stalls at the middle of the streets like this umbrella stall. It's somehow a cultural shock where when the police come they frantically packed and pull their cart and went into hidings. We happened to be interested in the luggage tag and was looking for the ones we want to purchase but there were news on the incoming of police, they didn't even care if I'm holding the luggage tag or didn't return without buying. In their mind they just want to flee from the police. I got shocked, i threw the luggage tag back to the cart.LOL!And btw, the street in Taipei is super clean, and does not have many dustbins around. We had to bring our own plastic bags to throw our waste. I think it's a good practice that we can learn from Taiwanese so that we will have a clean environment in sg.
Anyhow, this concludes our day 2 at Taiwan. :)
